I am an eternal optimist when it comes to the Skins and at the end of the lockout I was feeling low.  I like what they did from an organizational standpoint, I liked their approach to the draft and free agency, and I think we are seeing tangible results on the field already.  I have zero doubt in my mind that they are better than last year, just how much better is something we need to wait and see on.

Offense: I think Hightower is going to have a huge year and is the most visible improvement, I am strongly considering purchasing a 39 jersey (though they are not selling them at Redskins.comn yet).  Our offensive line is looking better and presenting/playing as a cohesive unit.  We have a nice mix at WR as well and I think that unit has the potential to greatly improve through the season.  The QB is an obvious area for discussion, I'll say the Rex and Beck have thus far shown that they are capable enough to manage the game.  In the Shannahan system, that is all we need.  Make the easy throws, read the defenses, hand it off, and don't make the mistakes.  If we can start to score 25+ points per game then lean on the defense some, we should put up some W's.

On the defense, I love the addition of Cofield at NT.  But our front 3 will be much improved and there is again, some depth there.  Let's hope Jarvis Jenkins is OK after last night, but I think that his knee looks pretty bad.  But I have REALLY enjoyed seeing the Redskins actually have a pass rush thus far.  Our LB's are strong and we have depth, they are the strength of our D; I like what I have seen in Kerrigan thus far and London and Orakpo are both All-Pros.  And our secondary should be strong once it's healthy, not having Laron so far has really held that unit back.  I think at the end of the year, folks will be HEAPING praise on Jim Haslett too, he is a great coordinator, just isn't head coach material to me.

Special teams has long been a sore spot for us, but the addition of Rocca at P is actually huge.  And Gano SEEMS to be getting his shi* together (after losing 4 or 5 games for us last year) and the new kickoff rule will help us out a lot.

Overall, I love where this is going.  I am keeping my expectations low for this year, but I am confident that we are moving in the right direction.  Hopefully they surprise the league and all the media that have been so down on them.  (though it was crazy to hear Gruden kissing Redskin a** last night).

HAIL!!!!

All I can say is let the crapeaters keep spewing their garbage.  The more they say we suck, the better we play.
